Guys are finding some poor rotors coming in from other countries.
Also poor pads which wear the rotors abnormally.

Any suggestions much appreciated.

Per someone else's recommendation here (a brickboard member) I bought ATE Powerdisc rotors and Mintex brakepads. I got all this stuff from FCPGroton. Have been using it for a little over 1 year now and am very happy with the results so far.

I've had very good luck with ATE Power Discs (slotted like an atom). They are noisy when you really lay on them hard, which I attribute to the "cheese grater" effect of pushing the pads hard into the slots. Otherwise, no problems at all and no warping. The first two sets of regular rotors warped fairly quickly, but I had alot of front end problems that may have contributed to their warping. After a complete rebuild of the front end (everything new except the steering rack), I put the ATE's on and have had no problems.

Some folks swear by Brembo. IPD in Oregon and several other aftermarket folks do, too. I like Zimmerman or ATE slotted rotors. The ATE ones are also sold by IPD/ I put them on my 240 and what a different from the stock ones. I believe you can get them for your 740 from IPD as long as you have the 2 piece disc/hub and non ABS. You might try an internet search for other vendors. Good luck.
