I'm finally getting my 240 (1990, 222000) back on the road with a replacement engine. I've arranged to get one from a bone yard, and they gave me a good price on putting it in. Should I ask to see the serial number on the engine to see if it matches the serial on the car it came from to make sure I'm buying an engine with the stated number of miles? They say it has 89,000, but I'd like some sort of proof.
Are there other things to watch out for when making an engine switch at a boneyard? They seem honest enough. I purchased all the gaskets and seals from fcp groton, along with a timing belt which I'll ask them to put on the new engine before installing it.
thanks in advance for your suggestions.
