still Running rich - Cold Start Injector? 200 1990

I measured the resistance for the Cold Start Injector at the ECU. It measured 12.7 Ohms. Bentley says it should be about 10. Does this mean the CSI may be bad and injecting all the time?

Also Bently says I should be able to get continuity between pin 24 and ground (for O2 sensor harness). I get no continuity. Does this make sense?

Thanks for your expertise!!!!

    Does a '90 model really have a cold start injector? 200 1990

    My '85 doesn't have a cold start injector....why does a '90 have one?

      Good question.

On the surface it seems unnecessary - just leave the main injectors on longer during cold start. But apparently the cold start injector provides improved fuel atomization at cold temps, whereas the fuel from the main injectors condenses on the walls of the intake runners.

      Or so the story goes...

Have you checked for ECU trouble codes? If the ECU got no signal from the O2 sensor, then a code would show up for sure. Probably the "check engine" light would be on too.

You should be able to unplug the electical connector on the cold-start injector to rule it out as a possibility, unless there is some mechanical failure inside it which seems very unlikely.

Have you investigated the possibility of a bad fuel pressure regulator? If it's not allowing fuel to return to the tank, then the injectors are running on 90 psi instead of ~38. The regulator's diaphram could also be torn in which case raw fuel would be sucked into the intake manifold.

Dunno about the O2 sensor but it could be. But you can check the
cold start injector by unplugging the cable to it. I don't really think
that the small difference in resistance would have any effect on whether it
injects or not. It could be stuck open or shut and that would not show
electrically. What the resistance tells you is that it is neither broken (open)
nor shorted, nothing about whether it works or not. (Although it certainly
would not work if it failed the electrical test.)
