Jensen Wheels 1800 1963

Hi all,

A couple of weeks ago I bought a 63 Jensen P1800. It doesn't have a spare so I'm looking around to pick up a wheel. The wheels on the car now have 12 slots. Was this stock or have they been changed in the past? If they are stock will the later small hubcaps like the ones used on the 1800S cars work on these wheels? Any other wheel options I could look into in the future?

Thanks in advance,
Bill

A Jensen car should have solid steel wheels... painted body color I think.... Your car must have later ('65-'68 or so) wheels. YOu'd probably find a month-year stamped between the lug holes.

any later hubcap that fits should work with what you've got...

Lots of other options for wheels. They are a standard American Ford/Chysler/AMC bolt pattern.

Thanks Matt. I have only seen pictures of Jensen cars and they all had hubcaps so I wasn't sure what I had. Even though I looked around for a couple of years until I found an 1800 worth buying and restoring, I'm new to Volvos so I have a lot of details to learn.

The super early Jensen cars solid wheels with hubcaps that covered the entire wheel... They fell off, and are therefore rarer than hens teeth. But a '63 should have those. Just the solid wheels with smaller hub caps, though still larger than what fits the wheels you have...

There's an early set on Ebay now, but I've got more important things to get for the car now besides the correct hubcaps. Actually I prefer the look of the smaller hubcaps and trim rings that the 1800S had. Easier to find and cheaper also. Got to get a spare so I feel safe driving it more than a block from the house. Couple of more electrical things to fix before I can take it down for a safety inspection then it will be ready for the road again after sitting for a year or more.

Yup.. if these are teh ones you refer to, they are for a 1st or maybe 2nd year P1800... but not for your '63. Yours should have solid wheels and medium sized hubcaps... the ones with a big 'V' surrounded by red in the middle.
