Why Does My Exhaust Smell Like Sulfur? 200 1993

I just noticed this today. Nothing else that I know of seems wrong. I see no smoke at all and the car is fine. What's going on?

High sulphur fuel. The cat can absorb and store sulphur, which it will release when it gets hot enough (up a long hill for example). Buy decent gas and the problem should eventually go away. Less likely is overloading the cat with a overly-rich fuel mixture.

So how come my car, which pre-dates catalytic converters in Australia, doesn't smell like Sulphur?

You're probably using a high sulphur fuel.

It's in the fuel. Try a different brand of gas.
