All but one of them lives here.
Just out of sight, there's an excavator digging up my street- too bad it's a Caterpillar and not a Volvo.

Enjoy!

Mine are multiplying too... (pic) 200

I "started with two empty hands" almost three years ago, but now there are three of them on my yard. The immaculate 1987 244 GL (93K miles) presented on my web page, the leaking, pre-scratched 1988 245 GL (128K miles) I got for my son, and now the 1986 245 GLT (115K miles) I recently bought as a donor because of its B230E motor and other GLT stuff.

Great collection! Sort of makes the "Volvo Parking Only" signs meaningless for you, though. My suggestion for the missing one is a 71 142E (my third brick, after a 65 1800S and a 69 164), or maybe an 1800ES with a FT230/M46 transplant ...

I showed my wife this pic and initially told her they were all yours. (I'm still working on her for another Volvo in our fleet. I'm hoping that one day she'll want to change her LeBaron 5 speed Turbo GTC.)

Anyway, she says you should submit that photo to Rolling mag so they could publish it. It's a great shot!

You'd think the Chrysler would be an easy choice. Don't worry, it'll need something expensive soon.
However, my mother has managed to keep an 89 Lebaron Convertible going this long, so there must be something about them...
Have her drive a C70, and you'll have a dedicated Volvo lover for life.

Hilarious! Maybe you should talk to your mayor and see if you can have the text added to your street signs...

I think it is time for you guys to get a place with a decent
driveway so those beautiful things will be out of harm's way!
I've got about 70 feet of driveway before the first car in this
pic, some of it wide enough to park 3 cars abreast of 3 oak trees.
(But this was an expensive place - I had to pay $77k for it.)

Darn George,
Out here in California we call 77k a down payment, and even then you don't get any land with your house unless you do what we did and do a 20 mile commute every day. I think I'm in the wrong state, oh well I'll build my rust free brick collection here then move somewhere sane.

BTW, what's that hood ornament on the white 122? Looks like you have some wildlife out there also.
Cheers

"Out there"???
WE are in the MIDDLE!! Everyone else is OUT THERE!

The yard bird is a wild turkey, a wily and majestic critter that I love
to see. I haven't seen a lot of them but they are around. They are normally
pretty shy (survival instinct - they are VERY good eating!).

And in case somebody wonders why I am at home in Oklahoma, it is one of
the few places where you can get a pretty good house at a reasonable
price, although they have started going up pretty fast since more people
found out about real estate here.

Geez, $77,000 isn't even a down payment up here. I think the media home price finally rose above $600,000 or $700,000 in the bay area. From experience, a small condo (800-1000 sq ft) can run between $220,000 and $400,000+ out here. The land is very expensive out here, but I think sometimes you pay for the high number of Volvos per square foot. :-D

Wild turkeys are fun.. until you get a lot of them. They were introduced as game birds a while back.. and they, along with the peafowl, have become quite a nuisance. The turkeys at least have a field of vision about 270 degrees. There aren't too many enemies with the patience to hunt those suckers.

Nice collection. I especially like the Turbo Wagon. But you need a 242 (running, of course). Just to round things out, you know.

Hey but you're cheating. That 242 isn't registered!

These are all on the road, though I think my neighbor hasn't kept her reg current.... And the girl who owns the 88 740 wagon just got a replacement for it- a 90 245 with M47!

I won't suggest that you also get a 242 since you already have one. But as I look at the list I can't help but notice you don't have a 140. A 142S would be a nice addition.
I seem to be full of ideas today about what Volvos other people should own. And me with only the one car. But I envy you guys with the small fleets. I need to replace the two non-Volvos I own with at least one good 245.

Like Aye Roll, you also need a 242. I'm a little surprised you don't already have one considering you're in Oregon and that's where all the nice older 240's seem to live. A lot of them, anyway. My current Volvo is from Oregon. I bought it out there and drove it back to the Midwest.

I doubt that they hate Volvos as I have heard them refer to owning a volvo. If I remember correct it is actually one of their wives that drives it on a day to day basis. Not sure which.

Hate is too strong a term. Bad word choice. But as I said below they do like to poke fun at the 240.
Any idea which model the wife drives?

Actually, I've heard them recommend a 240 as a cheap, safe car to a mother looking for a car for her college age daughter. Also my Dad told me he heard them say that a Volvo is the best used car to buy in the 3-5k range. He was somewhat surprised, he doesn't love Volvo's...

I think they like Volvo's, but pay more attention to modern cars which most people own.

The same things they say when recommending them as a college student's car. Heavy, slow, can't get out of it's own way. Ray explains and Tommy guffaws in the background.

I stopped in to the Good Time Garage in Cambridge a few years ago to show them my '80 gle V8. Ray (?) and the crew were suitably impressed.

My daughter was doing glass work in a studio down the street and I couldn't resist showing off.

78 245, only 140K on it, the question was, Why does the temp gauge go from zero to pegged in 3 minutes running. I think the consensus was that the temp sensor is fried. Couldn't be a temp comp board on this vintage. Supposedly the owner had the radiator cleaned out and checked for flow, and had a new thermostat installed. Then a second thermostat to be sure.

I cringe when those guys get it wrong, but I suppose it's like going to the doctor- they're making a best guess.
