1987 760GLE Wagon B280E V6 (UK Spec) 700

I intend to switch to synthetic engine oil, probably Mobil 1 due to availability. Which grade is appropriate for my car. I do mostly town driving, but also some long trips at high speed. Annual mileage is low, 5 - 10000 miles per year. Thanks for any good recommendations.

I'm using 10w30 in my B280F right now. -and the Mobil 1 synthetic oil will definately improve your cold starting and help keep the crankcase clean. If you do a lot of mountain driving, hard acceleration, or trailer towing, you might consider using 15w30 or 15w40.

God bless,
Fitz Fitzgerald.

Thanks, I guess that is just the same as my owner's manual, but I was unsure if the viscosity grades of synthetic is like for like with mineral or semi-synthetic oils. Dis you experience any leaks with the synthetic oils, causing any problems, or having to renew seals?

The front crank seal on my B280 has been leaking since I bought the car. I'm hoping that putting on a few miles with the synthetic oil will help to swell up the rubber seal and slow the leak. -or I may just replace it if I have the opportunity in the near future. While I've had the car for 13 months now, it was sitting in my garage for the first 11 months. During this time, I caught up on the maintance/service schedule and fixed many of the various problems as time and money would allow. Two months ago she got plates and insurance and is now on the road. I drove her today (the 780), but my 240 Wagon is still my daily driver.

God bless,
Fitz Fitzgerald.
