Front oil seals 200

Is it always necesary to replace front oil seals when doing a timing belt? I just replaced my timing belt and the seals looked just fine, so I left them alone. Did I screw up? Thanks. Allen

Not necessary unless they are leaking. I bought a set when I did the t-belt on my first 240 (in 1998). Since then, I've done a dozen or so 240/740 timing belts and haven't used my set of seals yet.

No, I don't think so. Only if they need it IMO.

However, I'd probably do them if the car has high mileage and you don't when they were last done.

My former mechanic told me that they are usually good for at least 100K. That is assuming you don't have a clogged flame trap....
