If you haven't bought the bushings yet, the poly bushings are easier to replace than the original rubber bushings, but they're about $50 for the pair. (These are the rear trailing arm bushings that attach the trailing arm to the rear axle.)

All you have to do it use an inexpensive propane torch to burn/melt out the old rubber, leaving the metal sleeve in place. Then you can clean the sleeves out with a little wire wheel on a drill and slide in the poly bushings (they are two-piece, one from each side), then bolt it up. I did this a couple of months ago, as I didn't want to mess with finding/building a tool and trying to press the old sleeves out and the new ones in.

it would be easier to jsut make one, go to home depot, and get the bits you need. Search the archives for home grown bushing tool.

I just did mine using the homebrew tool, which worked real well. If you pay rountrip shipping, I can send it to you. I live in Upstate/western NY and you should get it within two days with USPS priority shipping. I have spare nuts and bolts and few washers in there as well. Total weight is ~1lb. Let me know by email if you are interested.

Of course, this all based on the hionest policy that I will get it back in return, so I won;t ask for a deposit (which maybe a dumb idea). You don't have any intention of keeping it, do you? ;-)

    Cheers,
    Raj

It really is very easy to make it yourself. The instructions are on this site somewhere. I made one last year, and I don't consider myself all that handy.

One trick I figured out - If you have a hand held grinder or dremmel cut along the bottom pf the bushing before you try to take it out. This makes the ouside diameter a little bit smaller.

    Good luck.

I agree, it's fairly easy to make. My collegue at work helped me make mine and this gusy is a mechanical genius! It took him less than 20mins on the good ol' Smitthy tool.

      Cheers,
