timing discrepancy 200 1975

im confused.
haynes manual tells me to time my 1975 b20F at 10 btdc. official volvo shop manual says 10 degrees in tune up section and 5 degrees in the ignition chapter. nice proofreading job there.
so, it seems to run better at 10 than 5 but im kinda concerned i could be doing some damage long term.
