Brief hesitation on initial acceleration 200 1993

Hi. I just bought another '93 240DL, and it has only one (hopefully little) problem.
On initial acceleration (e.g., pulling from a stop sign, or out of a toll booth), it has an initial, momentary hesitation, as if I had lifted off the gas pedal for a fraction of a second. After that, though, it pulls strongly throughout the rpm range.
The hesitation is quite consistent and predictable (repeatable) -- it is very brief (half a second or less) and always at the start (e.g., ~one car length from where I started out) -- but it is unmistakable, and I'd like to clear it up. My other '93 has never done this at all -- in fact, none of my other 240's ('84, '83, '80, or '78) have ever had a problem like this.

Any advice or suggestions on where to look?

In advance, thanks to all.

Had the exact same problem on my 91 940 when I bought it. Happened the same exact way pulling out from every stop. Turns out both my fuel pumps were bad, replaced them and the problem disappeared. Almost too bad, cause I was getting unbelievable mileage lol....

Ken C.

My 89 240 with 194K was doing the exact same thing as you have described with your car. Here's what I did to fix it.

- My spark plugs, wires, rotor and distributor were all fairly new (18 months), but I went ahead and replaced the spark plugs anyway with Volvo plugs. That didn't fix the problem.
- Removed and cleaned the throttle body and IAC valve. Didn't work, still hesitated.
- Checked the air intake system from the air filter thru the AMM up to the throttle body. Made sure the AMM was connected securely. I found a small hole in the baffle hose between the AMM and the throttle body. Replaced the baffle hose. Was sure I'd fixed the problem this time. It still had the hesitation.
- Replaced the crank angle sensor and the Fuel Pressure Regulator (both were original). The problem has disappeared!

All of the above were not that expensive and easy to DIY. Let me know what you find out was the problem. I had also read here on the brickboard that the fuel tank pump and thermostat to the guage were other possible causes. I had also had my fuel filter replaced just 6 months ago, so I ruled that out as another possible cause.

I've had this problem with my '93 wagon since we got it two years ago
and no one has been able to fix it. I'm inspired by your success in
fixing it - can you tell me where the crank angle sensor is located?
It this a simple R&R for this part?
