What's good off of a '90 245... I already have the tailgate... 200 1986

first sighting of a '90 or later 245 in the junkyard last week...

I was able to get the tailgate ... I need the upgraded cargo windows (badly) but I've heard they didn't come in until '91...

what else would be good to grab off of it before it hits the crusher?

the front windshield? AC condenser, compressor??, wiring harness?

thanks,

jack

How is the glove box? Mine needs replacing. Any color will work for me.

I think the glove box is good... someone already removed it and left it on the front seat with the grille...

is your glove box front cover falling off? I just slobbed a bunch of silicone seal/adhesive between the front cover and the actual door and it's been solid ever since...

let me know... I can grab it for you ... I'd wager it'll be $10 at the yard maybe less...

        Jack -

What I need is a 1988 or newer box including the plastic inside of the door in good condition.

Apparently the the door flew open so many times due to latch failure that the arc-shaped "flop stoppers" have cracked the plastic inside piece badly.

The color part is in good shape, so I will glue it onto a good frame.

Older boxes look the same, but are not. The knob/lock system changed for the 1986 year, and the location of the latch hole in the box changed for 1988. I am assuming that Volvo - in its infinite wisdom - did not change things again after 1988.

Get the box, get an idea of the postage, I send the money. Thanks.

        Bob

PS I will send a copy to your email address, too.

The back seat with head rests with latch.

Hopefully you pulled the latch off the rear hatch too - it's slightly different.

Wire harness, no. They do not degrade.
    ECU, AMM most definitely.
If it has the flush glass windshield, yes. Or was that '91?
New type power steering pymp, yes. The combined reservoir/pump type, I mean.

      thanks all,

      Bob,

what's the advantage of the upgraded Power Steering Pump? Better power steering?

I got the latch (today!) for the tailgate...

seats are cloth so they won't match my black leather (maybe I could swap the covers?) those headrests are nice!

it does have the roof rack (with a Barrecrafter bike rack attached!) but I don't think I want the extra holes in my roof! I've been waterproofing Bad Blue for a long time... don't want any more trouble there.

so the wiring harness is good, eh?

Yes, you could just swap over the seat back cover. The issue with the headrests is that the seat structure is a bit different, hence why you could not just drill out the existing to mount headrests.

Is there a trick to getting those back seats out?

I've never been able to get the bottom out ... it seems to be loose like there's some kind of post down there but I can't figure out how to slide it so the bottom of the seat back can be removed?

Depending most importantly on the condition and whether they fit your particular model (you could possibly resell for more money):

      Weatherstripping.
      Third seat.
      Armrest.
      Dash.
      Clock/tach/volmeter setup.
      Grille
      Taillights.
      Seats
      Door panels
      Aftermarket sway bars
Clips for interior panels and fuses (cheap way to stock up)
      Sunvisors if not mushy
      Floor of way-back
      Roof rack
