'91 740. Copper on A-pillar ? 700

Over the weekend I dealt with some minor rust issues on my 745 before our salty winter comes and they became major rust issues. POR-15 to the rescue, I hope. I also plan to spray the underside with bar and chain oil. A suggestion I read on the board a while back and think sounds like good advice.

One spot of my rust was around the upper, passenger side corner of the windshield. I pulled the trim back and sanded it down and saw the edge of what appeared to be copper sheathing or something. It looked like it might go across the front of the A pillar on down from this point where I saw it, just about even with the top of the windshield.

I'm just curious if that's what it is, how extensive it is and if anyone knows why it is there. Thanks.

Wonder if this is a seam braze area where spot welding would prove to be expensive or difficult to do in production. Ive seen many cars with brazed seams in the past along with factory plastic fills in seams and junctions.

Interesting if it is brazing as brazing as opposed to seam or spot welding is not accepted for structural repairs here in the UK in the annual MOT test for vehicles over 3 years old.

That sounds plausible. I only saw the edge of this copper colored area and it could easily have been brass. The edge I saw was very straight, though.
