I am afirst time bick owner, this forum is great. I recently bought a 96 960 wagon with 37000 miles and in perfect condition, I love it,m too bad my wife gets to drive it. I need the most comprehensive repair manual.
I've seen the Haynes for tha year, but it covers too many models,if thats the only ne I can handle it ,but from previous experience with haynes it gets confusing fast.

    You can go to volvotechinfo.com and sign up to view any manual needed from 1994 on. I've had occasion to use the service for as little as $3 depending on the manual. You can print whatever you need until your subscription expires. It's quick and easy. Good luck.

        I haven't found the Haynes to have enough detail on the models I have worked on/owned. That's why I like the online version, I can print out what I need when I need it usually for less than $10. If you're going to be doing wiring troubleshooting I'd suggest buying the Volvo green manual. I don't think the online version is as easy to follow once it's printed. The book makes more sense to me. Congratulations on your purchase, I bought my first Volvo 740 w/36K now its got 262K & still going strong.

        The Haynes manual is better than no manual at all, but it's at the bottom of the list when compared to the Volvo Green Manuals or an Alldata subscription.

    I have TP2305201 Fault tracing, from volvotechinfo.com which was $39 but worth it. This one has all of the code numbers and then a flow chart on what to check first to last. Some of the test require a Volvo scan tool but most of the tests can be done with a voltmeter.

    TP31714/2 this one has things like changing the timing belt etc.. most of which is already covered here & TP2103201 Details Specifications, Disassembly, Measurements, Reassembly.
