Just installed VX cam. Have Questions 200

Installed the cam and the first thing I noticed was that the pitch of the engine was louder and the rpms seemed smoother but didn't notice to much in power diffrence. Does it kick in at a higher rpm or should I notice a diffrence in power?

Both my wife and noticed a slight increase just putting around town, hard to quantify but about the same as turning off the AC and the extra pep you get on a nice 40 degree day combined. Call it ~5-8hp at most in the day to day driving range. Where you notice it is passing with the foot to the floor and big hills.

Keep in mind the red blocks love to rev if they are cammed for it. My favorite VX story is coming back from a meet at Davis I just wanted to see how well it would take the Grapevine heading south into LA, the little thing ran 80-85 in 3rd all the way up it and still had more to give. This translates to 4800-5100 rpm for minutes on end.

Since then I have added a 2 1/2" Y pipe back exhaust and increased the initial timing to ~18 degrees for a little more bottom end. Yes I now have to run premium to get the most out of it but that's a small price to pay, it scoots for a NA 244.
Keep the mods coming, you'll like it.

As has been said, there isn't so much of a "kick in at higher rpm" so much as a "not drop off at higher revs." That being said, did you take your engine up to the higher speeds? If you're cruising around, never going over 3,000 rpm, then you're almost certainly not going to notice a difference. But, if you punch it, even in an automatic car you should notice a solid pulling during your acceleration.

I couldn't find the picture but somewhere in my stuff is the power graph of theVX cam. It looks like the power increase doesn't flatten out at 4000 rpm like the standard cam does. The desription in IPD is that " Street performance profile increases midrange torque and allows the engine to rev more freely to produce more horsepower"
