hello, i bought a cc for my 86 245. it came w/ no instr and no mounting bolts.

there should be 2 bolts for 2 places.

one pair for mounting in the engine compartment & 1 pair on the steering column.(the little brain box installs w/ screws, i see.)

what size bolts are these 2 pairs?

thanks again!

    bolt size questions for 86 c/control 200

I just installed a cruise control in my '86 a few weeks ago...

unfortunately I'm not at home and I can't get to the bolts...

the vacuum units in the engine compartment screw into the firewall in the center with any kind of (essentially) self tapping metal screw ... I found one hole for the screw under a cutout of insulation material on the engine side of the firewall near the grey connector (with holes for six wires in it). I drilled another hole that would line up with the hole for the mounting bracket (after lining up the hole that I did have in the firewall under the previously mentioned cutout).

hopefully you got a mounting bracket with your vacuum units.

I'm fairly certain the bolt size is the same as the other steering column bolts

sorry need to provide a little more info...

the bolts for mounting to the steering column are the same size as the bolts that are used to remove the bracket that currently resides on the steering column... you should be able to use those same bolts after removing the old bracket (which you'll have to remove in order to put your new bracket in).

        bolt size questions for 86 c/control 200

Hello Jack, thanks for the info. I felt under the steering column and felt those bolts earlier.

        one other question please.

how does one get the electrical connection (with the 3 wires) from the vacuum to inside the car.

        thanks!

          bolt size questions for 86 c/control 200

Good Question! the connector is too big to go through the firewall (unless you make a really big hole... then you have to figure out how to plug it so water won't get in!)

I had that problem too... in the junkyard when I pulled the one I used...

the answer is... you have to open up the cruise control vacuum unit where the wires go... you will see 4 connections where the wires are attached.

CLEARLY LABEL the connections before you remove them (ask me how I know this!)

remove the wires connected to the spade connections inside the vacuum unit... then pull them through the firewall starting with them inside the passenger compartment (I ran them thru the firewall near the DS mirror where other wires go through).

then reattach and reassemble the vacuum unit.
