Any differences '95 to '93 940 900

I currently own a 93 940 and am looking at a '95 940 to replace my 82 240.

Are there any major differences. Seats, Air bags, etc...

BTW, the car I am looking at is a 95 turbo sedan with 59k on it. This seems to good to be true? What do you think? I havent been to see the car yet but the seller is asking $7995. Seems a little high.

Thanks,

Matt

Lets see, $8k for a $35-38k car with only 60,000 miles? Good deal (if you like the car and the flaws are few).

I bought my wife a ‘95 na for about the same, 42,000 miles with all the options last September. It was like a new car! It had all the records, not many…four or five oil changes, a hood repaint and a few options added on by the dealer. The cover over the spare was never lifted and the tool pouch was still virgin wrapped.

If you get it, plan on a few hundred+ for getting the car to “0-miles”. I still changed all the belts, seals*, T-belt, rotor, cap, distributor rebuild, filters, synthetic fluids. The water pump was whining a little so I changed that too (wife’s car). Hoses and a radiator are on the shelf and will go in soon. *Rubber parts wear due to time, not just mileage. I was surprised how brittle the seals were.

Get a carfax report and if you can get a $100 pre purchase inspection at a trusted independent, it will be well worth it. They will uncover any maintenance needs, body repairs, pressure test the radiator, (I had a radiator blow during a pre purch insp and I may have found that pinion seal leak too late), check emissions, brakes...

The 95T lost the turbo badge and the boost gage. I believe the '94+ gained the better rounded gear T-belts.
    Good luck

I would say that the price is fair if it has records and any extended warranty and was perfect. The timing belt should have been replaced long ago, becasue it should be 7 yrs regardless of mileage (70k miles in the case of the '95).
That is really low miles and should fetch such a premimum. Just for comparison, I traded in an immaculate 'exceptional' condition '96 960 sedan with '77k miles. The book was $7500-$8300. I got $5500 as a trade, and the dealer sold it for $8500 with a 1yr select warranty a day or two later.

Can't tell you what differences there are, but I'll add my .02 on the (somewhat high sounding) price.

IMHO, it depends. IF it is immaculate (no dings, scrapes, or other cosmetic flaws) and IF it has solid maintenance documentation that confirms that it has been maintained by the book by a reputable mechanic, THEN i'd say it's not too crazy. I mean, it is not like there are lots of these cars out there with that low of mileage. Besides, if the person is asking $7900 they might be willing to settle for $500-1000 less if you can show them the cash.

At this mileage check carefully to confirm that the timing belt has been replaced. IIRC it should have been at 50,000miles.

For me, purchase of a car like this is a long term decision. Five years down the road the price won't matter, but the cleanliness of the car will. And, BTW, there is a big big difference between a car that has been cleaned up and a car that has been kept clean.

Dual airbags on the 1994/5, glass sunroof (if equipped) and limited Turbo badging that year. Cosmetic stuff mostly. There are a couple of internal engine improvements but I no longer remember the exact year of that improvement, 93/94/95. Very similar overall to the 1993 with exception of dual bags. I'm sure there are very subtle changes in addition to what I've mentioned... but not many.
