Gas Gauge Sending Unit Resistance?? 444-544

I pulled the sending unit out of my gas tank while trying to track down the reason for the inop gauge. I found the sending unit had been gutted; no windings, no arm, no float.

I'm not having any luck finding a stock Volvo replacement, but I can get a generic one if I can figure out the resistance of the original one.

The choices available are:

0-90 ohms

33-240 ohms

78-100 ohms

Anyine got a clue here? Or better yet, anyone got a spare stock sending unit?

Thanks!

Gas Gauge Sending Unit Resistance?? 444-544

According to Haynes, resistance at the upper stop is 10 ohm and at the lower approximately 60-85 ohm in the 140 series. I couldn't find any reference in my 544 manual, but I suspect it's the same. The units look the same for 544s, 122s, and 140s except for the way they attach to the tank. Never looked at one from an 1800.

Gas Gauge Sending Unit Resistance?? 444-544

I bought one for my "62 , i.e., 12V, 544 about two years ago at my local Volvo dealer's. Ipd has them, and so do most of the various parts dealers discussed on this board. Not cheap though!
