seat heater/ dome light question 200

my drivers side seat heater doesn't seem to be working- anyone have any suggestions on where to start? also- my dome light can be turned on, but it always stays on. if I set it to turn on only when the door is open, it works the first couple times I open the door, but just stays on after that- so I have to just keep it off all the time- anyone know whats going on? thanks

seat heater/ dome light question 200

Seat heater: Start out as an optimist: Check the connection under the seat first. (Maybe you will have to dig under the carpet. Just follow the wires.) Is it connected at all? With the switch turned on, use a multimeter to check if there is power at the connection. More likely though, there is a broken wire at the thermostat. That means that you will have to remove the seat from the car, and remove the seatcover. (A good opportunity to machinewash the cover.) Sort out the heater cables, fix them properly with new tape as the old will have dried out, and solder the wire to the thermostat. Check with a multimeter - or a power supply - before reinstalling. Have a look at my 240 page for pictures (courtesy of Tony H. on this board).

Dome light: Is it related to the driver's door only? I'd check the door switch.

    Erling.
