hey this might be a stupid question, but can I put 17" BMW rims on my 1990 240?

Wrong bolt pattern, and possibly offset too.

Best case is you'll need custom adapters. Prepare to spend at least $300 for the set.

Worse case is that it just won't work, period.

Spacers to change the offset and possibly the bolt pattern measurements as well.
