Whats this cable? 200

I have a 85 240ti and am under the car to pull the trans. pan to replace the kickdown cable and I noticed a smaller cable in diamitor that is behind the plate that the header is mounted to and looks like it goes into the bellhousing. It is cut and looks like a sheilded type cable. It was cut back by the kickdown cable where it goes into the trans. What is this cable and where should it go to? Whats so strange is I have been under this car alot and never saw this before. Can't find it in the Bentley anywhere.

Got me stumped. At first I thought you were talking about the pickup for the mono-tester, a shielded two conductor (red and black IIRC) leading to a sensor in the bell housing. But its destination is a connector on the cam cover, not back to the tranny.

        Hi Charlie,

If that was the mono-tester hookup, it is pretty much useless and you're safe to cut it off so it won't get tangled in anything. The Mono-tester is (was) a volvo special tool to set timing and test ignition, I guess. The cable used to go to a 4-pin connector mounted on one of the cam cover studs, where the tester would be plugged in.
