Bumper brackets 444-544

Hey, while I'm on the subject, does anyone have any words of wisdom on bending bumper brackets straight again? I got new euro-style bumpers from Swedish Treasures and the brackets don't quite fit. I've been assured that the American brackets work fine with the old bumpers, and I'm sure they're just tweaked from years of bumping into things. My plan was to heat them up with a blowtorch and bend them with channel-locks while they're hot. Any advice?

If you can find an old anval avalible, it would be best to bend them without heating so you do not change the slight temper they have. Untempered metal is more malable so it won't have much strength. Come to think of it...... the bumpers on a 444/544 are so thin that I guess it woulden't make much difference anyway. I would bolt them up and heat and bend them in place , fitting them to the bumper as I go.

I would suggest that you bolt them to the frame and then do the heating and bending until the bumper is level with car and hopefully the floor, but with the car is most important. Good Luck
