Crankshaft Tool Info Needed 200

Anyone have any information on the "FCP Groton" Crankshaft Counterhold tool?
Is it ok? Anyone ever had problems with it?

Todd :-)

I buy most of my stuff from Groton, but I found this tool to be substantially cheaper at Swedish Engineering at the time I bought mine. Also, even IPD was cheaper, although I don't think there's is the official Volvo tool. The one I got from Swedish came with the decal for the shop wall like the other poster mentioned. The tool is beautifully made and says on it, "Volvo, made in Switzerland, 9995284 21. If that's the one Groton sells, it's a great tool and works really well. (I haven't tried it on any Scan Tech pulleys.)

Tool fit and worked fine.I think it is an original Volvo tool. Even came with the sticker[decal],and tool holder.I think at the dealership the mechanics hang these tools on a board. The decal is one you would paste on the board with the tool outline.Just buy it!

I imagine the tool is OK, but may need some "fine tuning" (filing) to clean up the 3 lugs that have to fit into holes in the pulley.

My tool is from another source (maybe IPD? It's been years.) and works good on OE pulleys, but not on the likes of Scam-Tech, where the holes are so poorly finished that the tool lugs don't fit.

Some people file the S-T pulley holes to fit the tool, and get by OK. But file on the "Harmonic Balancer"? I just don't like that idea, or that I should even have to. So I went OE on my 940 pulley/balancer.
