Donut Spare Tire. Regular rim? 200 1989

It looks like it is BUT just to get some assurance.

Is the Rim on the Donut spare a regular Rim that can be used for Snow tires or regular road tires?

Standard size but doesn't look like same gauge metal 200 1989

At least that was the deal on my 1980. When I got it many years ago I ditched the temp tire for one of the take-offs when I bought new tires. It fit just fine on the temp rim. Buuuut...later I was rotating tires and noticed that the thickness of steel on the temp rim didn't look the same as on the regular rims. Look at the edge of the vent cutouts to see for yourself.

So I ditched the rim for a PNP standard rim. When I got my 1992, I dumped both the temp tire and rim for a regular setup.

With Volvo's emphasis on safety, I've never understood why they supplied a temp tire and rim on the 240 series.

Donut Spare Tire. Regular rim? 200 1989

Hello,

ACTUALLY...

I have a regular sized 185/75 R 14 Goodyear mounted on my spare tyre rim that originally had the "special" tyre mounted on it. Used it for 800 km last year over the x-mas holidays with no problems...

Generally, no. The usual spare rim is only 4 or 4.5" wide. Too narrow for a common tire.
