wires to front turn signals - '95 964 900

I went to wire the European side marker lamps into the front turn signals, and there are 3 wires going into the back of the turn signal lamp housing - black, green, & white. Only two wires coming from the side marker lamp.

Assuming the black wire is ground, anybody know which one will FLASH the side marker lamp, and not run it steady ? It's such tight quarters down there, and it's so hard to get to the wires, I only want to splice the correct wire, once.

Thanks !

Timc, have you checked with an ohm meter while the turn signal is working? by this you could make shure which one is getting the pulse. Another possibilty could be the white wire working alternately with the green (assuming black is ground) this way you could wire the side marker to come on when the front turns off (in cycle) were you able to pass the wires through without a problem?

No, I haven't used an ohmmeter; it's really hard to get to this wiring harness at all. That's why I was hoping to isolate which wire would cause the side lamp to blink on and off. If it was within easy reach, I'd experiment, but it's just too tight down there to do that......
