ECU ? 1989 240 DL Sedan 200 1989

I know that the 561 ECU in some of the later model 240's were bad about going out and if I remember correctly the best replacement is the 951??? So what is this question I keep getting asked by my local P&P about having an EGR valve or not?? And also is the ECU in an 89 or 90 740 wagon useable in the 89 240 I am working on?? Thanks......... Max

If you are looking for a spare and it ends up being the 561, I see there is one on E-Bay right now

Take a look at FCP's page on ECUs for both the 200 and 700. Good quick reference. I believe 89s with EGR are California cars.

And people report using the EGR version in the non EGR cars without problems.

The 740s used the same ECUs.

And some even use the 16 valve ECU with no problem, me and unrulydog.
        Sooo-
        561
        951
        556 (LH 2.4, egr)
        and at your own risl:
        937
        571

Used, salvage ECU beats the hell out of some flunky quoting you retail on an ECU when your car is down. Personally, I keep a bunch of them to avoid the possibility. And as always there are other solutions to the loss of ground, but too complicated for me. I just like to plug and go.
