Water pump to heater pipe gasket 200

My 83 Volvo @B21 engine recently developed a bad anti freeze leak at the water pump. I took it off and discovered that the rubber gasket between the pmp and heater pipe which runs under the exhaust manifold is "shot" My problem is that i can't seem to get a new gasket. The Volvo dealer here is useless and won't even answer my phone calls! I was wondering if anyone else had a similar problem and has found a source for the gasket or a way to make one.

The seal came with the pump I bought at Napa. Perhaps they sell the seal alone. Inter Auto Parts in San Diego is a good source for - perhaps they have one: (858) 279-9900.

Just be sure to install it correctly (If I remember right): on the pipe first, and then put the water pump on.

Know just what you're going through. Our first Volvo was an 83 I was preparing for a thousand mile drive by changing the water pump. Got 15 miles down the road before finding I'd cut that seal installing it the wrong way and wound up buying an inferior aftermarket pump to get the seal from the kit. Local auto parts store. Got me on the way, though.

Any of the WorldPac retailers will sell the seal by itself like in this example or you can get the whole gasket kit for a buck more from FCP Groton who will answer your call and treat you with respect.

Deja - vous, my problem as well. IPD has a complete gasket kit for about 9 bucks. Look online under cooling. Just ordered two more today.

Still have may damned leak right behind the pipe so I am going to replace the thing one last time before I pull the pipe to check it.
