Clutch 200 1986

1986 240 wagon. Clutch pedal won't fully return. Clutch chatter, especially in reverse. New clutches (3) and new cables (2), no help. Would a weak pedal torsion spring cause this?

Did you buy a Volvo clutch cable, or an aftermarket clutch cable?

I installed a new aftermarket Italian made clutch cable in my daughter's car when I installed a new clutch, and clutch pedal effort was so stiff that I removed it and installed the original 150,xxx mile Volvo clutch cable. The pedal effort went back to easy and acceptable after re-installing the original old clutch cable.

I dont' know if you'll even see this response but if you do:

I just bought a "Sachs" clutch cable but was surprised to see it made in Italy, not Germany. Was this the brand that you had?
