volvo restoration 1800

If anyone out there in Volvo land knows from experience or has any information on the company known as Volvowerks in San Jose, Ca. I would sure appreciate a reply. I gave them a down payment on a restoration which was supposed to be delivered in 6 months. After two months they stopped taking my calls, would not reply to E-Mails, and I even sent registered letters with no results. Am I the only one who believed their ad on E-Bay?

Wow, ... I hope you don't get burned.
I was going to let them restore 2 cars, but the communication part has been really ... not sure how to put it, let's just say I am getting the feeling that we are talking different languages.
It started after I saw one of their ebay auctions in May or June. Exchanged a few emails, and all communications dropped once I asked for a restoration contract. I posted a message here on the BB, asking for some feedback on the company, and 3 people replied, saying that they have not had a really positive experience. Then a few weeks after that an employee posted a message, explaining what the reasons for the prior problems were, and how they are working to get the issues resolved, and also left the company's address and contact info for people to call if they have questions. So, I decided to give them a call and from the initial conversations I liked what I heard, this was early August. Then about 2-3 weeks ago I called again to get the details down and things kind of started going shaky. The person I originally spoke to was not to be found in the office, so I spoke to someone else, who was not aware of my agreement with the other person. He sent me a contract that actually looked pretty good, but the numbers where totally wrong from what I was originally told. I called back citing all amounts I was quoted originally, so they gave the cell phone of the guy I spoke with originally. Called him - he did not remember our conversation, so we started from scratch ... after a few days calling eachother back and forth, we finally came to an agreement (the day was Friday), and he was going to send me the contract first thing Monday morning. Come Monday - no contract, I left a voicemail. Tuesday - still nothing, another voicemail. Thursday - still no contract or call back, and yet another voicemail. Friday I finally get the call, I get some brief explanation of how they had to get too many cars out of the shop, and they have been swamped with work, but I will finally see the contract in about 45 min or so when the guy gets in the office to where he is driving as we speak ... Well it is now Sunday (officially, in my time zone) and the contract has still neither been emailed nor faxed to me. ... Need I say that I don't think I am gonna have my cars restored there ...

There have been a few posts on the 'board along the same line, as well as posts on some of the other lists. Consensus seems to be that they don't deliver. They have changed their ebay name at least once, though, after receiving some negative feedback...

Sorry.

I'm sorry you are having problems with this shop. I've tried to warn people about them in the past; there is NO WAY they can deliver what they promise in those ebay listings... Report them immediately to the Bureau of Auto Repairs in California (do a google search for the website address). They may be able to help you get your $$ back.

You can file a report on them online; I'll keep my fingers crossed, good luck dude!
