AMAZON WINDSCREEN CORNERS 120-130 1969

Hi All

Has anybody tried patching in windscreen(sheild) corners from a doner car before? My fabricating skills are not up to those tricky angles and rads and so grafting seems the best option.

Many Thanks
Brian

The problem is that the donor car is likely to have rust in the same area! I have fabricated this piece a couple of times by doing it in stages--a separate piece of metal for each surface, then the whole thing welded together. If you don't have a MIG or TIG welder you may be better off paying a body shop to do that bit.

      Thanks for the replies fellas.

Chakra. I did try to frabricate the sections originally the way you have described but didn't make a very good job of it so ripped it all out again! You're right though it will be finding a donor without rust.

Joris. I don't think I will have to extend out as far in the directions you suggest but will now be more aware of it.

Reckon it will be back to making the sections up and welding them carefully.I'll just have to be more patient. Then I can explore the wonders of leadloading to finish off. Another techique to master!

I fabricated a piece that fit relatively well, but it took a lot of time to get it right, and will require some time and filler to make really smooth. If you can get them from a donor car, by all means do so.

When you cut out the old piece(s) from the receiving car, be mindful of the drip rails, the bonnet if that is still in place, and possibly the rail that holds the under-bonnet rubber seal if you have to go that low.
