B234F spark plug wire question 700 1990

How does one safely pull the spark plug wires off the spark plugs on the B234F (16 valve) motors? The wires fit down into the deep spark plug wells with little or no clearance between the terminals and the wells, and there is no tab or anything molded onto the top of the terminals to grab ahold of. It looks like all you can do is grab the wire itself and pull on it, but I would think that damage to the wire would likely be caused by doing that, especially if the wires have been in place for a long time and have gotten really stuck to the plugs.

My car has the Bougicord brand wires, if it makes a difference.

Go to an auto store and buy a "spark plug wire puller", a special pair of pliers that allow you to grab the boot (and not the wire) and rotate or pull. Cheap.
