Cheap fixes that actually work....For me at least....Long Post. 200

I usually post to this board asking questions and hoping for answers. I wold like to offer my experience with two different products that have worked well for me. I am NOT a distributor, manufacturer or have anything to do with these products other than have used them.

Firstly,

The front door hinges on my 1990 wagon kept making noises everytime I would open or shut it. I tried everything from oil to some kind of grease and found they would work for a week or two at most. I finally replaced the Differential fluid and had some left over. Through other people's advice, I used Mobil 1 fully synthetic. I put a little on my door hinges and it has been noise free for about 6 or 7 months. Just a little thing to try and it is relatively cheap (especially if you change the differential fluid).

Secondly,

I went to a plastic dealer in town a few years ago for some scratched plastic on my instrument cluster. They suggested a product called or made by NOVUS. I bought the middle one (#2 Fine Scratch Remover and Polish) and has worked wonders on my headlights and the chrome, plastic trim around the car. It brings it back to life. I have been working on a "project" 1988 240 sedan and had to replace the front end (thanks to all those people I got parts from). It cleaned the headlights and trims right up.

Again, I have no stock in ANY of these two companies, just like their products and like using them. I cannot remember the price on the Mobil 1 grease but the NOVUS #2 Plastic Cleaner was something like $4.00 - $5.00 per bottle. It is probably enough to last the average person a lifetime.

Just trying to give back a little from a group that has helped SO much.

Todd :-)

P.S. Sorry about the long post.

Novus has been used widely in both Public safety organiztions, and amusement operations. The Public Saftey community usees it for polishing lightbars. The amusment operations, uses it to polich the plexie in the video games(arcade). It's good stuff.

What is a plastic dealer? 200

I know I asked this question a week ago or so in response to a post speaking of "your local plastic shop" or something to that effect. What sort of customers does a plastic dealer have; what products? I know I'm rural, but...

By the way, here's a place to buy Novus but lookout for the blinding colors on this web page.

Old phones 200

I like those old phones. I need a new wall phone in the kitchen. If those touch tone models are the ones by Western Electric I may have to buy one. They are almost indestructible.
