I found leather seats in great condition - now how to get out the back seats? 200 1991

While resting my sprained ankle at my dad's place I went out to the junkyard (I'm restless) and found a great condition 1991 244 with exact color matching seats to my car. I got out the front seats ($9.99 each - can you believe it?!?) and they are like a dream come true. My dad felt the foam and saw the leather and insists I go back to get the rear seat - it's a 244. My question is - the front seats were fairly straight forward - how do I get out the rear seat? Thanks - also - this place has lots of parts - very cheap - if there is anything anyone wants - let me know, as I am going back Saturday to retrieve the seats. I'm now in Upstate NY but live in Manhattan and could bring parts to anyone in the city if needed. Thanks!

This is the fastener at the front lower edge of the seat cushion, there are two:

I use a screwdriver as a lever between the floor and the cushion bottom to release the fastener. Once you release one side, reach between the seat bottom and the center armrest and feel for the rear fastener and pull up.

Rear fastener located on the center tunnel:

The rear bottom cushion is held in place with three floorpan brackets that engage clips on the seat. Two are in the front of the cushion and one is in the back.

    1. Kneel in one of the rear footwells. Place your hand near the bottom of the cushion, about 14" from the door. Push back toward the trunk, then up slightly. This motion will free one of the front clips. Move to the other footwell and repeat.

    2. The bottom cushion is now held in place by only the rear bracket. It engages a clip in the center of the cushion. Push the cushion back toward the trunk, and while it's there tilt its front upward. You're essentially rotating the cushion about its back edge.

    3. When the rear clip is free, you can remove the cushion.

    4. The backrest is simple. The bottom is held by clips metal clips on the rear wheelwells that bend down to secure a steel bracket at the very bottom of the cushion. Bend the clips up. You can now pull the bottom of the backrest forward. When the brackets clear the clips, push the entire backrest upward, which will free it from two top brackets that secure it to the trunk structure.

    Good luck.

Prater is on the nose again.. Good explanation of the removel process..Be patient as sometimes they can be a booger to get out but that is the correct way..If you find you do not want the leather seats I will come get them for a great increase over what you paid as I really need to replace my rear seat.. But other than that it sounds like you found a gold mine.. Good luck,,,,Max

If you are interested there is also a set of black leather seats near me that can be had. The back seat is in great condition - the fronts are so so.

VolVolina - I am interested. I gave our silver '88 244 GL to our 16 y/o son. He would just LOVE to have a replacement driver's seat cushion. Otherwise, he's going to make ME try to sew up a rip in his! I've thught myself to weld, but sewing leather... I don't know! Is one of the front bottoms in decent condition?

          Thanks.
