front speakers no sound on 780 700 1989

Hi,

My two front speakers have no sound at all. I replaced speakers but still no sound. The rear two speakers are all fine. I guess that means the radio is all right, the problem may be in the front amplifier. Am I right? The previous owner said one day she put all sound to the two front speakers with max volume and they stopped working. Is only the fuse in the front amp is burnt, or the whole amp?

I tried to take out the front amp and do a test, but I didn't know how to remove the metal panel after I removed the plastic panel under the steering wheel. May I get some instructions please? Thanks a lot.

It wouldn't surprise me if both speakers were dead. I've more than once experienced the shottiness of Volvo stock speakers. Check them berfore buying a new amp.

Check amp output: I'll bet those channels are blown. A new unit is not expensive.

Do you mean I need to buy an amplifier? Sorry I'm new to this.

I also called some Volvo people they said the 740 and 780 have the same front amp. Any one can confirm this?
