GRHHH...! Advice needed on intermittent loss of power window power S90-V90

I would appreciate all advice and comments on what is happening with my '98 S90 with only 60k. The problem is sometimes I lose power to the power windows and the transmission "latch" refuses to release upon applying the brakes. Have to manually over-ride to shift in gear. Also, to add to the headache, most of the time the AC vents just have a mind of their own, switching back and forth between upper and lower vents regardless of what I choose. I'm running out of patience with this car. GRHH...

GRHHH...! Advice needed on intermittent loss of power window power S90-V90

The A/C vent problem is a bad vacuum bellows ($45 Volvo OE). It is located on the drivers side forward of the steering column. Check out the FAQ's to see the R & R procedure. It is a fairly common problem on these cars.

Intermittent problems such as you describe are ususally associated with bad switches or bad grounds.

The shift lock mechanism and window switches are not that expensive or difficult to replace if they are truly at fault.
