Battery fixing 200

Hi,
Can anyone tell me how the battery is supposed to be held in place? I have a 2" plastic device on a bit of string attached to the tray, what is it? Does it somehow clamp the battery? I have no idea!

Wagoneer,
That little plastic lump is your battery hold-down. It took me a couple of days to figure out how it works, but it will clamp the correct size battery down and hold it there pretty well. Mine was also attached with a string. I will try to take some pictures tonight and post them for you, so you can see. It is kinda hard to explain exactly how to position it.

The correct battery for a Volvo has a "foot" near the bottom on each end. One foot slips unter a lip on the side of the tray nearest the fender. The other foot is held down by a flat piecs of steel and a long threaded rod. All of the above as well as replacement trays are available from ipd. You might even find a picture of the setup on their web site.

I don't know what you have, but, in Ontario batteries must be held in place.

The holdowns on my 240 are located close to the tray at the base. But my battery didn't come with a corresponding protrusion for clamping down. So an alternate method had to be found. The previous owner of your 240 probably came up with the device.

I use a zip tie through the battery handle and the eye of the long batt holdown screw. Others, I think, just zip tie around the batt and under the tray.
