SRS Lights 200 1993

I noticed that the center console on my 240 has the letters on one of the blanks on the center console (near the hazard switch). I pulled the blank and there is a connector attached to it, so apparently this is some sort of warning lamp???

The instrument cluster also has an SRS warning light. Are these redundant? The reason I ask is that I want to use this slot in the center console for a switch and was just going to let this SRS "blank" and the attached connector ride lose behind the console.

Hope this makes sense

Thanks,
Ted

Ted,

the blank position with the electrical plug is the test position for the SRS, if installed. In the 240 series with SRS installed, you plug a piece of wire in the circut at this test point and ground it to get diagnostic codes for the SRS system. You may be able to relocate the test plug, however I would look for another slot and leave the test circut alone.

As a "self proclaimed" SRS back-yard professional, I would leave well enough alone. Plenty of available space in that area to do whatever you like.

Peace, Jon

AHHHH. I see it now. There is a little coverplate the comes off to access the connector. I think I will leave this one alone. Thanks.

I actually only have 1 available slot. The others are filled with:

-Lighter (2 slots)
-Blank (1)
-Rear defrost (1)
-Hazards (1)
-SRS port (1)
-Side mirror defrost (1)
-A/C (1)
-Seat belt warning lamp (1)

I was taking an idea posted earlier on this forum and am going to wire my garage door opener to an extra rear defrost switch. I was going to do two switches for the two garage doors. However, I will just do one so I can leave the other slots alone. I can always get rid of the seatbelt warning light I suppose to put in the second one. I could have also just used a two-way generic toggle switch to control both doors, but thought the idea of use a rear defrost switch was pretty neat.

Thanks,
Ted
