Metallic skreeech at first backup 140-160 1973

When I pull out, something sounds bad. After the first backup of the day, it doesn't screech any more.

Something sticking in the parking brake?

Awaiting the customary enlightenment.,

I'd say its in the handbrake... If I use my parking brake and the car is pointed downhill, it will not go forward until I back 'er up a hair. Then it unlocks and goes fine.

I'm just in the habit of doing hte little backup thing every time I use the handbrake...easier than fixing it...

I suspect yours is hte same problem, and keep in mind that handbrake is always on until you do the backup manouver. You will waste that handbrake for good in short order..

Suspect worn or loose brake components. E-brake a likely candidate but could be anything so check it all.

    Mike!
