Red LED on console and cold start question 700 1991

I recently bought a 91 740 sedan. Just to the right of the shifter, there is a small red LED. I can't find it in the owner's manual or any mention of it in the forums. Surely someone knows what that light does.. It has not lit yet, so I guess everything is OK.

Another question concerns starting. When I first start it after it sits over an hour or so, it dies. I have to restart it and the idle is low and rough. If I give it some gas, it smoothes out but even using the gas pedal it will die the first time... It will not start at all unless you give it some gas pedal when starting..... Tell me it's not the cold start valve.... I saw the price tag on that..

I would say the LED is an alarm system (aftermarket) of some sort, that's why it isn't in your manual. As for the idling problem chexk your base idle and CIS motor for proper functions.
