Just installed all new brake pads in my 240.
shims looked ok still have the rubber coating on them.
Car hums when braking. What could it be?

    Is there any vibration at all in the pedal on a medium brake application, not a panic stop? That would tell you the rotors have a slightly uneven surface, on the way to warping. There should be no vibration at all in the pedal. That is feedback from the rotors and would cause a hum. Of course you used the silicone grease, I shouldn't even have asked.
