Rust alert 900 1993

I removed the two guides beside the rear lamps for the hatch on my 945. There was corrosion starting under there and it was caused by very fine dust that had accumulated between the chassis and the guide, sanding the paint.
They are easy to remove and replace, no adjustment necessary.

There was also corrosion on the hatch itself under the aluminum bracket that enters the guide. These need alignment when you reinstall them and I don't know yet if it is difficult, or eye-balling is enough.

Hope this helps,
Mikael Larsson

I am puzzled: I looked on mine and can't find any "guides" unless you mean the side devices, just inboard of the rear lamps, that hold the hatch and keep it from popping open in an accident. They are black, about eight cm in length, screwed to the frame. Is this what you mean?

Yes, those devices are what I meant.
I think they also work as shock absorbers when you close the hatch; there is some soft rubber under the surface where the bracket from the hatch contacts the guide.
