Engine can not be restarted after a drive and can not accelerate during the driving

My car is 1989 volvo 740 turbo. 220k miles on it. I recently meet two problems.
1. Engine can not be restarted after a driving.
After a driving and the engine is turned off, it will not be able to be restarted. There is no sound from the car. The headlight will dim. The voltage is about 12v from the meter in dash. The voltage is at the middle when the car is driving. I changed the cable connected the battery and starter. The battery is new.

2. Yesterday, I found the engine can not be accelerated beyond 2500rpm. Turbo meter shows that the pressure is in the middle of the yellow zone.

What would be the problem? How much will it cost to repair?

    Sounds like a fuel delivery problem.

    Check for a clogged fuel filter.

    Check for a failed or weak in-tank fuel pump or main fuel pump.

      Hi, Jim,
      Thank you for your suggestion.
      I think the 1nd problem is probably from failed fuel pump.

      How about the 1st problem:
      The engine can be started smoothly in the morning, noon or evening if it is not being used for half a day.
      But after a driving, it can not be started anyway. no sound. the head beam can dim.

      I am a student and do not know too much about repairing. I hope to get enough information and estimate:
      what is the problem so I can find a cheap garage.
      whether it will cost me a lot or not.

        I would say that either your alternator is weak of bad or, more likely, your alternator belt is loose and slipping so the alternator is not fully charging the battery.

        After sitting a few hours the battery recovers enough to start the car.

          Hi, Jim,
          Forget about the engine power loss. Actually, that is caused by the broken turbo hose.
          I will 1st try to fasten the alternator belt to see whether that improve or not.

          thank you, Jim.
          I think that is a very much possibility to the engine ignition.
          How about the engine power loss? That happens when the car is climbing up. The engine can not reach 2500rpm or faster.
