I recently overhauled a B20 , about 300 miles ago and the oil pump refreshed the top of the head (rocker arms) with plenty of motor oil.
I could tell this when I adjusted the valves a couple of times to .018. for a E head. I also have the IPD (Isky) double valve springs and pushrod setup. Now, the other day, it started ticking louder than usual but had to "get home".
When I took off the valve cover , the #2 exausht valve Isky (IPD) pushrod was be-headed into crumbs and the #3 ex. pushrod head is cracked badly.
The whole rocker arm area is 'bone dry'. YES, I CHECKED the hole or cavity in the head after the machine shop did there work that feeds the oil to the rocker arms and it was perfectly 'clear'.
Now, when cranking the engine over with the rocker arm off, there is no oil at all coming through that #3 oil hole that distributes oil to the rocker arms ! The oil pressure guage reads around 35 lbs. just by cranking.
Has anyone had the experience of that tube coming loose off the oil pump?
I hat to pull the whole engine again....... Sad Duck
