I'm sorry, but what's an AMM? 200

So rhaire, and clbolt said to check my AMM in a lower thread. Now I'm mainly a BMW guy and have heard and use a lot of abreviations for stuff like the AFM and MAF, but I've never heard of an AMM. Can someone explain? Thanks again.

Nevermind, I just did a search and found that it's the air mass meter. So is this the same thing as the air flow meter on my BMW?

Yep, it's the same thing. Before I got into Volvos, I always referred to them as mass airflow sensors. Now I use the standard AMM abbreviation (air mass meter) just to avoid confusion.

I believe so. It is located up stream from the throttle body and connected to it by a flex hose. It measures the volume of air entering the intake and gives the ECU the information necessary to add the correct amount of fuel.

Unplug it or plug it in only with the ignition OFF.
