considering buying a 88-760 turbo(b230)

Hello,
The car has 135000 miles. Nice looking car, inside and out. appears to be well cared for. Runs great. Asking price $3999. From a dealer. No maintenance records except the "warranty book" with consistant service stamps up to 119,000 by a volvo dealer.

One thing I found a little strange: there are no markings on the trunk lid, where you would usually see the car type in silver letters
( ie,volvo 760 turbo...).

Carfax reports no problems. It is a one owner car.

It has the multilink rear suspension. Just how expensive is this suspension to repair. Any practical alternatives/conversion. THere are no obvious problems, except the shocks, I think, may be a little weak.

Anything else about this car that I should know.

all comments are welcome here.

Thanks.

Lawrence

Sounds like a nice car. The dealer (Volvo dealer?) should be able to input the VIN and pull up all the work done on the car by any Volvo dealer. Bribe the service manager if necessary, lol.

Trunk lid lacking badging points to a repaint job. Check for the little ridge made where the masking tape edges were. Usually found along the edges just inside of the viewable outside surface.

Multilink independent rear suspension is a nice ride, but I heard that the Nivomat shocks are really high dollars, somewhere over $200 a side.

Do you intend to do your own work? The Brickboard is a great place for DIY-guys (and gals).

The B230FT engine is a good one, lasts a long time if cared for properly.

    Enjoy the ride,

    Bob
