outside Tem guage 200

Apparently I can get the rare outside temp guage new from Vdo with the wireing for abou $50. The only catch is that it does not say volvo. Other then that, does this sound like a good deal? I have never seen an original, wonder how much they would sell for used. What would you do?

Thanks and Happy bricking.

The egauges VDO gauge should be good enough if you want a good working gauge at a good price. Other than that keep looking in the yards. I just found one (F*) on Wednesday for $4. It will go in the 245 wagon since the 264GL already has the same gauge but in C*. KEEP LOOKING and you WILL FIND IT. Good Luck!

By the way this is what a Ambient Temp Gauge in C* looks like:

The gauge in F* has the F where the C is and the numbers start from 0*-100*.

OK you got me 200

I know I usually regard ambient temperature as one of the most useless gauges on the car (I mean what can you do about it), that does look very cool. I think I would like to fit something like that, even though I did write some disparaging things about some of the other gauges.

It is nice looking... I'm also thinking of a way to mount these gauges to my 79 262C. The pre-81 dashes only let you mount any of the extra gauges the way the 81+ dashed do. I think I might mount the dashes to the left of the center console, mounted in one of those 3-Gauge Turbo Setup Brackets to the center console and then have the wires run back and hide behind the cluster. If I do come up with something I will let you know. Take Care!

I found my "ambient temperature" gauge at the P&P and got it along with about 5 other gauges for $10. Lucky day, but the gauges are awesome. It's now in my dads 240 though. cuz my new GLT came with one. They both read about 3 degrees high though........

Pull the gauge out and remove the black locater plug in the bottom of the housing. Using a jewler's screwdriver adjust the gauge. There is a pot' in there that will allow you to calibrate it.

Yep, stumbled onto it by accident, noticed a small slot up in there and figured I'd try turning it. One thing I've noticed about these gauges. If you calibrate them to be spot on in summer they will read low at colder ranges and visa versa, I tend to leave mine adjusted to the warmer temps as it never freezes here in San Diego.

I pulled a volvo one at a pickNpull last week and I think it cost me $10. I was lucky though and happened upon it though. Although, it is in centigrade. I am now becomeing familiar with that system.

What is the weather like out there, it is about 22C here!

What kind is it? Is it VDO brand? If so they are awesome and rock. Get the thing.

It would be the Vdo brand, but it just wouldn't say Volvo...otherwise exactly the same. I Wish I could find one for $10 like the other poster.
