If the sound is coming from under the dash, there's a good chance it could be the vacuum check valve. There are other possibilities, but since this valve is more accessible than the components under the dash, and the fix takes only 15 minutes, it's probably the most practical first step.
The valve is mounted on the intake manifold. Here's a picture showing the part in the foreground, and where it's mounted is circled in red in the background:
Before removing the valve, take note of which end connects toward the intake manifold. Once removed, try blowing first into the end that connected to the intake manifold. It should not allow air to pass, but I'm betting that yours will.
Hold the valve under a tap and run hot water through it (a bit in both directions) for several minutes. This should clean it out, and allow the diaphragm to reform and seal correctly. Try blowing into it again to check, and it should seal now. If so, re-install, and you should be good to go. Mines held for about a year now.
If this doesn't fix your problem, you'll have to take the celnter console side covers off and trace the line from the check valve into the vacuum tank from the passenger side, or out of the vacuum tank on the driver's side and onto the vent controls on the console front panel.
