Distributor Pick-up, Induction, ETC. B21 turbo 200 1984

I am still sorting out problems with the '84, thanks to all that responded to the K-Jet help question, 5/15/04, thanks to ChrissiJ, who raised the question about the distributor. I removed cap/rotor, dust shield, and can turn the little star wheel about 25 degrees. I then looked at one of my other distributors and found that I could hardly turn this star wheel at all, which prompted me to order an impulse sender replacement kit, with star wheel, spacer and sender unit. Has anyone out there replaced these items? Can I have specific instructions???????? I also tried to by a replacement for the vacumn advance but it is not available anymore. The car starts and runs, (new upgraded intank pump, main pump, and relay) but is backfiring thru the exhaust, hesitating, etc.
Thanks guys!

    Star wheel turns 25 degs:
If it springs back, this is probably the advance travel. If you disconnect the vacuum advance hose, turn the star wheel, put your finger over the advance connection, the vacuum should hold the wheel against the spring return. This would indicate the vacuum diaphram is ok.

Did you try switching that one in? Easy to do. (Or is it already part of a car?)
