tires 900

I read the faq but still had a question about tire sizes.
The car is a 91 940 wagon with 195/60/15 my question can i fit a 205/60/15? It looks really close so i think i can but wanted to hear if anyone has done it without rubbing the front tires on the the struts. Also suggestions on good all season tires if you have any.

tires 900 1993

I am running Firestone 205/60TR15 90T . Firehawk GTA 02.
They have been on the car for the 15 K that I have owned the car. The clearance is not a problem. The traction is very good. The wear on the outside of the front tires are due to the high caster in tight turns and the wide tread. I would not have it any other way. I have not attempted snow chains.

Firestone tires 900 1993

Keep a close watch on 'em. On my trip down from Oregon just a couple weeks ago, I helped another motorist at a rest stop. Broken belts on a Firestone GTA 02. 'twasn't an old or worn out tire either. It still held air, but it punctured the tread and lumped out very visibly. I gave the kid credit that he had enough sense to keep driving slowly on the shoulder until it was safe to stop.

Just a little caution.

tires Kumho 195 60 15 VR rated tire from tirerack - love it 900

I decided not to risk the wider tire but to get more stick so went with 195 60 15 Kumho at tire rack... they have a VR rated tire darn of I can remember model but there is only one with V rating - not susposed to be a all season but super happy with wet road and dry and is quite.. for $42 ea. + 25 to ship all 4 it blows any other price away... lots of folks rated the H rated tire very well but there was only a couple raters for the V which is a pretty new offering from Kumho. I took a slight risk and like I said.. happy camper. Also had tires balenced on a hunter load balencer since a couple rims are far from perfect... no... not even a little wisper of vibration at 85+ mph. Hunter load balance worth the extra $5 a million times.. go yo I think Hunter.com and they have a store locator to find installer who has a hunter.. be sure to ask for load balence.

205/60/15 will be a tad bit taller, but it'll fit just fine.

And all-season, leaning more towards comfort or performance? If comfort, Yokohama Avid Touring. If performance, Kumho HP4 716. Check Tirerack for review and details.

Dear Galaxian,

Good p.m. and may this find you well. This question recurs. Here's an extract from a spreadsheet, that comparies tire diameter and circumference:

WIDTH ASPECT WHEEL DIAM(") CIRC (")
185mm 65 15" 24.4685 76.8701
195mm 65 15" 24.9803 78.4780
205mm 60 15" 24.6850 77.5500

Hope this helps.

Yours faithfully,

spook

I'm running 205/60/15 Avid H4 Yokos on my 95 944T. I've been using that size since I replaced the orginal 195/65/15 Michs that came on it new. You shouldn't have any trouble with tires that size on your 900 wagon. Anything wider could be trouble. The Yokohama Touring is a good tire for general use. I have them on three of my 240 Bricks. I'm happy with them so far. I'm running Avid H4s on my 940 Turbo. Good price and not bad performance. I still switch to snows in the winter. Hope this helps.

Thanks guys i bought tires yesterday in 205/60/15 from tire rack. I ended up buying BFGoodrich Traction T/A for all around tires they should be here sometime this week.
