Where does oil show up from a rear main seal leak?? 200 1983

Been road-test driving 83 245 after engine rebuild,M46 tranny swap(with an 86 aluminum housing) and OD rebuild. Everything works great...no leaks from OD (red ATF is the clue). However one little drop of motor oil shows up just below the clutch at the junction of the reinforcing bracket and the bell housing. One drop.
Does this mean the rear main seal is leaking? Will it spray oil onto the clutch disc? What to do?
Thanks for any ideas,
el Raidman

sounds like the rear seal. it won't get on the clutch, the flywheel's in the way. get beneath the car and look up. make sure it's not the plug in the back of the head or the valve cover gasket. oil will wick it's way between the bellhousing and the block. pull the brace off and look behind the block. the other possibility is the plug behind the aux shaft, they CAN leak, but i've never seen it.good luck, chuck.

Thanks, PF:
I'll get the car up on the lift and check...it may be the oil sending unit. It is wet with oil..I've ordered a new one. Hope this is it, I've taken off the tranny 4 times redoing the OD. Too bad, I had not seen the motor oil leak before, but...win some, lose some. Or as they say here in Texas "some days you get the elevator, other days you get the shaft"
Gracias,
